Momento mori – when life gets real

The other thing that I have been thinking of in terms of psychology lately, is the idea of memento mori. I have heard a few great thinkers say that it is important to ponder on the inevitability of one’s own death every single day.

It is all a bit new to me because my mental illness had a special little story about death, which seems to have been deconstructed during this previous psychosis. So it is even more important for me to meditate on the prospect of death, every single day.

I guess what I am trying to get at is that life is short. We don’t know when our time is up! I think these kinds of thoughts change my priorities a bit. What is actually important?
